Blessing Dress

So, I have spent the last few days working on a Blessing dress for my niece Madison. She was born VERY prematurely and actually already had her blessing but I think it's important for every girl to have a blessing dress so I begged my sister to let me make one for her.

I originally had planned to make it have sleeves with scalloped edges that matched the hem but...I am not talented enough to make such tiny little seams. I tried everything from hand sewing it, to asking the lady at the fabric store. Finally after taking it apart about 15 times, I had to just go sleeveless.

I bought a preemie-size onesie to go under it, as well as to help me adjust the pattern to be preemie-size.
Here is a closeup look at the embroidery around the bottom of the dress.
Obviously, I have not stitched the sash on yet, I am waiting for my sister to tell me if she, for sure, wants it to be yellow or white. I think it would also be pretty with just the white flowers and no ribbon...
I made this cute little jacket to go over the dress. Because I used a knit fabric, I was able to make those tiny sleeves.

And here is the finished dress. Margaret, I hope you like it and I know little Maddie will be beautiful in it. Thank you so much for letting me do this for you. I don't think you will ever know how much it means to me.

Toddler Clothes

Here are some pictures of Brianna in this cute outfit I just made this morning. I used Simplicity 4203 in a size 2. The way the pattern instructions are written is a little confusing, so I will be posting a tutorial soon.
The only way I can get her to eat sandwiches is to cut them in tiny pieces and let her use toothpics to eat them.

I had to shorten the pants a bit. I'm not sure if it's because the pattern size is off or if it's just that my daughter is kinda short.
I didn't make the undershirt, it is a onsie we got from Carters.

I used Bias tape to finish the hem. I think it's gives the garment a more finished edge.

6-12 month baby clothes

I planning on selling some of the baby clothes I make on Etsy and so I have been trying out several patterns in various sizes. These are a couple of things that I made for my niece Lily.

This is the same crossover pinafore that I made for Maddie I just made this one in the 6-12 month size that the pattern was originally written for.

I made a matching diaper cover using this tutorial. I  absolutely love both of these tutorials, they were so easy to use and FREE!!!

Preemie baby clothes

So lately I have been making some cute, preemie-size, outfits for my newest little niece Madison.

Anyway, I thought I would just share some pictures of things I have made...

Here is a shot of all three projects. These are so tiny!
First is a criss-cross back pinafore I made using this tutorial. I adjusted the pattern to be preemie -size and used snaps instead of buttons because my machine doesn't do small enough button holes for this tiny dress. I stitched these cute buttons on to cover the snaps that didn't quite match the dress.
I love how it crosses in the back. I'm trying to find a diaper cover pattern that is small enough so that I can make coordinating bottoms too.
This is just a cute little jumper. I made this using a pattern I purchased of Etsy. I have used this pattern several times. I love how versatile it is.  I actually decided to not use the little applique on the bottom.

I used this tutorial for making the other flower.

This is a cute fleece jacket I made. I didn't really use a pattern for this...

Well, that is about all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by! I will be adding more cute things from my little corner of the world tomorrow so please check back!

I would like to start by introducing the world to Catie's Corner with a little Before and After...

Catie's Corner

Catie's Corner

I have decided that I really need to stop using Facebook so much. It has really started to take over my life and I'm really getting tired of all the drama it creates. One of the things I DO like about Facebook is that it gives me a place to show off all the things I make. I have decided to try making a new blog that is just for my creations.

I am calling this new blog Catie's Corner in honor of my dad. When I was born, my parents lived in a small two-bedroom apartment and already had 2 kids. My dad came up with the ingenious idea to make another room by turning a table upside-down and hanging curtains between the legs. This created a small "room" in the corner of the living room. He then made a small sign that read "Catie's Corner."

It wasn't long before my parents purchased their home and "Catie's Corner" was no longer needed. I really wish I still had that sign however...

When we purchased this home, I knew I was going to need a space for my sewing. I cleaned up a section of our basement and have christened it "Catie's Creative Corner." Please feel free to check it out on my new blog.
